Environmental laws and initiative are slated to be severely affects as New York State lawmakers attempt to close the 8.2 billion dollar budget deficit. Governor Patterson is proposing to disproportionately slash environmental funding, close dozens of parks state wide, and advance a very controversial natural gas drilling plan that the Sierra Club says will, ""devastate both our environment and our renewable energy future. Please take a few hours on Friday, March 12, to make a difference for NY's environment."

Local Sierra Club and other environmentally-conscious volunteers will lobby state representatives in their home offices. Newcomers are welcomed.
